Are Books Dead and Can Authors Survive

I liked this so much I borrowed it from the West Valley Writers Workshop message board.

This was an interesting read. It is inevitable that free will be the new economy. Though I don’t necessarily agree with equating value to money. It is something we do but I think there are ways to value something that is free. Look at all the people who have downloaded Little Women, sure it was free but they valued the work enough to take the time to download it and store it in their reader. I don’t want to be a pauper but as a writer I do not need to become a multi-millionaire. That is the part I think the old guard will never come to grips with.
