As a writer building my audience and just reaching my stride I love reading about how others have done it. Joe Konrath is no stranger to independent authors and I often find his posts on A Newbie’s Guide to Publishing informative and interesting. I came across this post from last week and knew I wanted to share it here.
For any writer who thinks the reward comes with the fresh ink of a publishing contract this is either a wake up call or a cautionary tale. My take away from Mr. Konrath’s success is that it takes a combination of skill, timing and content to make it in this environment. I look on my sales reports with a mix of awe, (hey I have a sales report), and depression, (well that wasn’t a very good month), still I now know that once my audience builds what is old will be not new to me but new to someone. Well worth the read.
